Oscar Jerome
About
Originally hailing from Norwich, Jerome had his first experiences playing music solo and with larger ensembles. He remarks that the creative process takes many forms, but usually starts with a burst of creativity that is then crafted and honed over time.
The renowned jazz polymath helped shape the sound of the highly-rated fusion ensemble, KOKOROKO, before departing to focus on his own solo adventure. His journey to get to where he is now has been nothing short of captivating.
September 2022 saw Oscar Jerome release ‘The Spoon’, his second album. Finding himself alone in Berlin mid-pandemic, at a crossroads in life, many of the album’s tracks are rooted in that period of his life. It’s a laconic piece of work steeped in melodic melancholy. He’ll move from a whisper to a scream throughout the album, and he’s as ready to talk about his feelings of depression as he is to rage about the injustices of his home country.
